Message from Levon Chilingirian

Artistic Director
Our annual pilgrimage to Mull starts with the ferry from Oban. The crossing is stunningly beautiful with the majestic Duart Castle on the left and the distant mountains to our right. Once on the island, there is a noticeable calmness in both musicians and audience - a strong sense of retreat from all everyday chores and worries and the sense of batteries being re-charged and fresh thoughts coming to the fore.

Mendelssohn on Mull is about renewal and development and the pleasure of collaborating with often unfamiliar colleagues who have travelled from afar to experience its unique atmosphere. Friendships are created for life and musical experiences evolved which are often miraculous.

Alasdair Tait

Each year we gather together around six professional mentor musicians and 14 young professional musicians from Scotland, the UK and further afield in Europe. The music featured is by no means just Mendelssohn; Mozart and Beethoven are featured prominently, as are the works of Shostakovich, Brahms, and Haydn amongst others.

Please join us at the end of June 2008 to enjoy the music, performed in ideal chamber settings.
