I'm emailing to thank everyone behind the festival for making it happen and keeping it going, I had an amazing time at this fantastic location and enjoyed the company of my fellow young professionals, but the most exciting experience for me was to make music alongside mentors, it was such a treat and joy playing with Levon, Samvel and Iain. The opportunity to play with mentors takes learning about making music to a completely new level.
I have been privileged to take part in two years and be a beneficiary of all the goods this wonderful festival provides. I would like to thank all the trustees, guardians, friends volunteers and supporters who enable young professionals to come to explore and learn great music regardless of whether they can afford it or not.

This year’s Mendelssohn on Mull festival was an unforgettable adventure through personal, social and not least musical heights. To start rehearsing chamber music with people you’ve barely spoken to could seem challenging at first. Having said that, getting to know someone through making music is a truly amazing experience; you meet on common ground and work up from that.
Being given the opportunity to rehearse and perform with such energetic, inspiring and sensitive mentors was a huge privilege. The repertoire was stimulating, interesting and really fun to work on.
I wouldn’t have missed this festival for anything, and hope it can continue to give joy to many in years to come!

I would like to thank all the funders, sponsors, Friends and audience that made this Mull Festival possible!
I can honestly say this has been one of the best weeks in my life. It was a great experience and I will carry it in my heart for the rest of my life.
It was amazingly inspiring to have the chance to play with musicians like Levon, Samvel, Marcia, Gabrielle, Stephen and Ian, playing concerts with them every day!
Staying at a peaceful place like Mull made me feel more focused and harmonious. It’s not very often I come to a stunning place like this.
Being invited to the Festival has opened a new door in my life; I’m now a member of the Aros Quartet! Thanks to you we already have concerts booked. I'm very lucky to get that chance in life.
But I believe the main reason this week has been so wonderful is because everyone has been so incredibly friendly and helpful at all time!
I can't thank you enough for giving us this opportunity!

An idyllic setting, lovely people, a wonderful chocolate shop (!) and inspiring mentors. Mendelssohn on Mull was a truly special experience and one that could not happen without the support and generosity of it’s friends and supporters. As a young musician, this was a week that re-ignited and reminded me of what music is all about; forming friendships, rising to challenges and creating bonds for the future. It is a real haven and a perfect setting for music making. Having the opportunity to play alongside such respected and highly experienced musicians is a true learning experience and one that we will feel the benefits of forever. Thank you.

I enjoyed the week and the intensive style of working, and it was amazing to actually play with the mentors - an experience that was new to me and one that I didn’t realise would be part of the festival. It was very inspirational to play with and listen to so many talented players, and since I don't come from a music college background but am starting a postgrad there in september, the week gave me an idea of what to expect.
It was great that we were given so much financial support - £160 food allowance, reimbursement of travel costs, and the free accommodation made it seem extremely generous in comparison with the other chamber music course I have been on, Variations Scotland (formerly NYOS Variations) in Ullapool (although this is a very different course, with a much lower standard).
One thing I would say is it would perhaps be an idea to have a scheduled day/afternoon off during the week, where we could go walking/on a trip to somewhere on the island without feeling we have to prepare for a concert in the evening (like the Iona trip), so we can have a complete break from the music and relax properly as 7 concerts in 7 days is quite a lot!

Playing in the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival put me through the steepest learning curve I have ever experienced.
Sitting next to some of the country's great professional musicians and seeing how they work cannot be compared to any other form of study, and is more valuable than anything a music conservatoire can offer any student.
I had such an amazing week.

This was my fifth consecutive year at the Mendelssohn on Mull festival- each year bringing me new challenges, opportunities and friendships.
The MOM festival is a unique chance for YPs to play alongside leading string players in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings of Mull.
It is always a busy and intense week- rehearsing and performing hard but there is always time in the evenings to meet with Mentors and YPs to chat and relax over a glass of wine!
The week at Mull is always the highlight of my year. It is incredibly rewarding and has helped me develop both musically and personally. Going from the initial shock of my first year here to having the confidence to offer support and advice to younger players.
I feel very fortunate to have attended the festival so often and look forward to continuing this journey for many more years!

Mendelssohn on Mull was an amazing experience. The opportunity to play in a quartet with Marcia and Steve for the whole week was an invaluable lesson every day in itself and I was made to discover new things about myself and my playing. I left the idyllic surroundings of Mull completely inspired to meet new challenges set and to work harder and enjoy my music making. My sincere thanks to everybody involved with festival; I will never forget this experience.
